Special School District of St. Louis County

The Public Review Committee
Issues Report

The Special School District of St. Louis County received high marks in a recent report issued by a Public Review Committee (PRC).

According to the report: “ . . .our overall conclusion is essentially the same as that rendered by the PRC of four years ago. SSD merits an undisputed pass. The satisfactory conditions cited at that time have been maintained and the positive trends identified have continued.”

State legislation approved in 1996 requires that a Public Review Committee be appointed every four years to review the operations of Special School District and to make recommendations for improvement. Areas of review included SSD's structure, governance, administration, financial management, delivery of services, and cooperation with partner school districts.

This is the fourth PRC appointed since the legislation was enacted. Reports were issued by three previous committees in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
