Local Nursing Program Boasts 100 Percent Pass Rate on Licensing Exam
In addition to celebrating its 20th anniversary, Applied Technology Services is also celebrating a pass rate of 100 percent on the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Seventy-six graduates passed the exam on the first attempt. The national average pass rate is 84.4 percent and the Missouri average pass rate is 92.43 percent. Passing the examination allows students to practice as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
“Perseverance and diligence on the part of staff, faculty and students have resulted in our fantastic Board of Nursing pass rates. Faculty have spent a great deal of time working on new and different methods of teaching to help our students get prepared to enter a very dynamic career where they touch the lives of many,” said Practical Nursing Program Coordinator Susan Winchester RN, MSN. “It is overwhelming to think of the far-reaching impact of all that is accomplished here.”
The Practical Nursing program has full approval of the Missouri State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and North Central Association. Applied Technology Services offers the Practical Nursing Program at two locations-South Tech and the MET Center.
Applied Technology Services provides career and technical training to adult students in St. Louis County. Classes are offered in four program clusters from traditional technical fields such as precision machining and construction to burgeoning fields as welding and health sciences.
