SSD Salutes Staff, Community, Teacher of the Year

SSD honored 41 staff and community members on March 7 at its annual SSD Salutes Banquet. The district recognized teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators and community members that have gone above and beyond when serving the district.

SSD also announced its 2012 Teacher of the Year. Tammy Topp, an SSD teacher at Litzsinger School, earned the honor for her dedication to students and her innovative efforts to help them achieve success.

Inside and outside of the classroom, Topp demonstrates her commitment to her students and the Litzsinger community in many ways. She serves on numerous school committees and frequently donates her time to prepare for schoolwide special events. As coordinator of the Labels for Education program at Litzsinger, she helped collect more than 800,000 Campbell's soup labels that recently helped purchase 14 new iPads for use with the school's students.

Topp was selected as one of SSD's 10 Key to the Classroom Award winners. The Key to the Classroom Award honors SSD's top teachers for their creative approaches to student learning, innovative programming and commitment to student success.
