Annie Donnell

Annie Donnell, a senior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School who receives vision services from SSD, has made tremendous progress throughout her educational career.

Annie has learned the literary and math Braille codes as well as the ability to use various assistive technology devices. She can independently access the Internet using a screen reader, and communicates with her teachers through email.

Annie attended the Summer Orientation and Mobility and Adapted Living Resource Program (SOAR) sponsored by Lighthouse for the Blind, and learned daily living skills for students who are visually impaired or blind.

“Her independence in cooking, cleaning, clothing maintenance, and mobility skills increased greatly,” said SSD teacher Jennifer Kauffman, who nominated Annie for the Rosemary Zander Award.

“Annie is hard working, responsible, and also a lot of fun,” said Kauffman.
