Special School District proudly announces the election of Mrs. Carmen Stayton as the new President of the Board of Education, marking a historic milestone as the first person of color to hold the position. Stayton, who has served as the Board Director for Subdistrict 1—representing Hazelwood, Jennings, and Maplewood-Richmond Heights school districts—brings a wealth of experience as an educator, nonprofit leader, and advocate for students and families.

Neuwoehner High School kicked off the spring season with its Best in Show Talent Show.

At the March 3, 2025 Board of Education meeting, SSD welcomed new Board member Erin Beaver, discussed the plan for filling the vacant Subdistrict 4 seat, and held its annual officer election.

The SSD Board of Education has announced an opportunity to serve students, staff, and the community via an open seat. Candidate filing for Subdistrict 4—which represents the Ferguson-Florissant, Pattonville, and Riverview Gardens school districts - runs until 4 PM on April 4, 2025. 

During the March 11 Board of Education meeting, Jenna Heinlein was approved as the new principal of Ackerman School in the Special School District of St. Louis County.

During the March 11 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Julie Moorman was approved as principal at Litzsinger School in the Special School District of St. Louis County, beginning in the 2025-26 school year.

During the March 11 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Carl Imhof was approved as the Special Education Director for Ferguson-Florissant Schools.

During the March 11 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Charity Schluter was approved as the Special Education Director for Mehlville Schools, beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
