What do I need to know for students who receive transportation as a related service?
A student’s need for transportation as a related service will continue to be determined by the IEP team, based on the individual student’s needs.
For those students that receive transportation as a related service, SSD bus capacity will be reduced to promote physical distancing and to accommodate health and safety guidelines. As soon as routes are determined, we will reach out to families with additional information. Students are encouraged to wear a cloth face mask if physically able and when harm does not outweigh risk while on the bus. Student temperatures will be checked as they board before the bus. All staff will be equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE).
Any student with a temperature of 100° F or above will not be transported to school. Parents will receive a notification form that will include next steps. Students identified with a fever will be reported to the transportation dispatch and the SSD staff member who receives students upon exiting the bus at the school site. SSD transportation will be cancelled for 24 hours unless a note from a healthcare provider indicating that a student may return to school is provided.
