Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. This will certainly be a year unlike any other, so the
audiology department wanted to reach out to let you know what services we are able to provide at this
time. This plan will be reviewed on a monthly basis. We are committed to providing our students and
families with as much support as is safely possible during school closures.

Due to Special School District buildings’ closure to the public and current model of virtual service
delivery, at this time, the audiology department will not be providing hearing evaluations of any kind. If
you have not already, we encourage you to establish care with an outside audiology center who can
provide diagnostic hearing evaluations and hearing aid evaluations. Please see the list of pediatric
audiology providers available in the metro area in the following pages. You will also find a release of
information form which, if completed in full, will allow us to exchange information with your chosen
center so we can remain up-to-date on information regarding your child and their devices.

If you have equipment troubleshooting needs, please contact your audiologist or the department
secretary (314-989-8875) to arrange drop off. Until further notice there will be no in-person
appointments for families.

Each member of the audiology team will continue to be available via phone and email. In addition, we
will offer hearing equipment troubleshooting via Zoom video-conferencing on an as-needed basis.
While we are unable to provide in-person services, we will be available virtually to families, IEP teams,
educators, and outside audiologists for consultation regarding educational audiology services. We
understand this process is complicated and, again, will be re-evaluating our plan on a monthly basis.
