Kara Johnson

  • Kara Johnson has experienced disappointment, loss, and triumph during her high school career. Through it all, she has managed to keep her spirit calm and her standards high.

Kara is self-disciplined, utilizes resources, and has set attainable long-term goals. Boasting a 4.1 GPA, she has been on the honor roll consistently since 2017. Although she unexpectedly lost her older brother this year, she managed to keep up with her academic expectations through her grief.

Her involvement in Riverview’s student community has been an enriching experience for her and her classmates. Her communication skills, as well as her confidence and poise, were greatly improved as a result of her participation in the drama and debate club. Her election to serve as senior class officer/historian on the student council was the encouragement she needed to demonstrate the pride and enthusiasm she feels for her school. This year, she also joined the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Color Guard, and her instructor calls her an asset to the program.

When asked about her most memorable school experience, she glowingly refers to Maryville University’s Coding Camp where she created lines of code with the newest technologies while learning Microsoft Office skills and participated in many STEAM activities. She enjoys problem-solving and pursues personal and professional development seminars on her own, embracing opportunities to be mentored or network with others. She has chosen to pursue a business career and participated in an accounting awareness program to learn more about the climate and expectations of a business environment.

Kara is working to improve her independent living skills. She now holds a driver’s license and manages her checking account. Her long list of proven job skills includes budgeting, calculating/computing, event planning, and task organization skills. As a member of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), she also completed 10 hours under the tutelage of a seamstress/tailor repairing clothes.

An inspiration to many, Kara's industriousness and achievements have left a lasting impression on her teachers and fellow students at Riverview.
