    Special School District’s Human Resources: Office of Employee Success and Engagement champions stakeholder-focused service and a culture rooted in equitable practices, open communication, personal accountability, trust, dignity, and respect. Our mission to support District goals and objectives is realized through attracting and supporting diverse, high-quality staff and creating a safe, healthy work environment that values each individual’s personal and professional success throughout their journey with SSD.

    The Human Resources: Office of Employee Success and Engagement staff are leaders in creating and shaping an equitable and inclusive culture that honors diversity, excellence, and innovation by supporting talent, engagement, and the employee work experience.

  • Phillip Boyd was appointed as SSD’s chief of people and culture officer in 2022. Prior to joining SSD, he served as assistant superintendent of human resources within the Ferguson-Florissant School District. As chief people and culture officer, Boyd will lead SSD’s human resources: office of employee engagement and success, creating and shaping an equitable and inclusive culture that honors diversity, excellence, and innovation by supporting talent, engagement, and the employee work experience. 

    Boyd served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and the U.S. Navy. He practiced law for over a decade before beginning his career in the education field, where his work included commercial litigation and labor and employment law.
