    SSD Celebrates Juneteenth

    June 19, 2023 - Today, June 19, SSD celebrates Juneteenth as a day of recognition and celebration of African American freedom and achievement. SSD stands in solidarity with all students, staff, and community members who have experienced hardships, mistreatment, or harassment due to the color of their skin.

  •  Student Survey Feedback Wanted

    SSD Student Surveys 2023

    April 27, 2023 - In collaboration with Panorama Education, SSD students in grades 3-12 are invited to share their voices through two surveys, a climate survey and a social-emotional learning (SEL) survey. The surveys will be given during the fall and spring of the 2022-23 school year, with the spring survey window being May 1-19. The surveys will be administered electronically, but PDF versions can be previewed on SSD’s website.

    Northview Celebrates First Responders

    April 26, 2023 - Police officers, firefighters, and EMTs were shown lots of love and support during Northview High School’s fourth annual First Responders Day. Students and staff kicked off the day of celebration with a parade. First responders drove around the school with flashing lights while students and staff held up thank you signs and shouted out words of appreciation.

    Deedra Sagerty Announced as Chief Operating Officer

    April 26, 2023 - During the April 25, 2023 Board of Education meeting, Deedra Sagerty was approved as the Chief Operating Officer for Special School District. Sagerty will begin in the position starting July 1, filling the position following Dr. Jeff Haug. Haug was recently announced as the new superintendent of Mehlville School District.

    Students Learn About Transitioning from High School to Workforce 

    April 24, 2023 - Northview High School held its very first Career Day in April. The all-day event began with students exploring a variety of career opportunities in the fields of transportation, cosmetology, culinary, health care, and more.

    April 11, 2023 - Special School District will be collecting personal care items, April 17-May 12, 2023. Donated items will directly benefit students in SSD schools and programs and will be distributed by social workers.

    “Crumpled Classics” Performed at Northview

    March 14. 2022 - Audience members got a taste of romance, adventure, comedy, and suspense in Northview High School’s production of the play “Crumpled Classics.” This story gives a modern spin to famous classic literature stories, such as “Romeo and Juliet,” “Frankenstein”, “King Arthur”, “Sherlock Holmes”, and “Phantom of the Opera”.

    SSD to Host Business Diversity Workshop

    Feb. 27, 2023 - Special School District is proud to host a free Business Diversity Workshop on March 11, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 12 PM, at Northview High School. Local businesses are invited to attend the workshop to learn more about how to become certified MBE, WBE, DBE, and SDVE business enterprises, tips and tricks for completing RFPs, and guidance on how to do business with school districts.

    Feb. 24, 2023 - Track and field, basketball, tennis, football, boxing, and the list goes on - students at Northview High School celebrated black athletes of all backgrounds during the schools annual Black History Month celebration.

    UNO Bowl Creates Friendly Competition Among Students

    Feb. 14, 2023 - Nearly 80 students at Northview High School put on their game faces to compete in the second annual UNO Bowl. Coordinated by coaches Mike Laspe and Anthony Forneris, the game is hosted around the same time as the NFL superbowl.

    Northview Students Honored at Character Award Assembly

    February 1, 2023 - During a school wide assembly held at Northview High School, 12 students were presented with Student of Character certificates by Mark Sharp, assistant principal. Students are selected and recognized each quarter for a character award by demonstrating the school's expectations of best effort, responsibility, and respect.
