New this year, SSD's FACE (Family and Community Engagement) will be offering an immersive environment for learning American Sign Language (ASL)! Learn to communicate with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HoH) individuals with an introduction to fingerspelling and basic signs to use in the home, school, and community. Topics include family, school, food, and community signs. Deaf cultural norms will be discussed, which include introductions and daily interaction between the deaf and the hearing.
A second series of classes will be held during second semester, and include signs with families in mind. Dates for second semester session include Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29, March 7, 14, and a make-up date of March 28. Registration for the second semester series will be shared at a later date.
