    January 24, 2022 - SSD strives to ensure our families feel connected to their students’ experience. In order to continually improve, we need to hear from you. Our Family Engagement Survey is now open and is intended for families with students in an SSD school or program. The information collected in the survey will be used to help your school better engage families in their student’s learning.

  • Tech Schools Gifted Auto Plastic Repair Stations

    January 21, 2022 - The Auto Collision Repair programs at North and South Tech High Schools have been gifted a Plastic Repair Station worth $13,000 from St. Louis I-Car Committee. The organization works to provide supplies and information required to perform quality vehicle repairs.

  • Tech Students Learn About Medical Research Positions Available After Graduation

    January 21, 2022 - There are dozens of avenues to take for those who are interested in working with animals, such as marine biologist, pet groomer, military dog trainer, animal-assisted therapist, or veterinarian. On Jan. 12, vet assistant students at North and South Tech High Schools learned about another career pathway – caring for animals involved in research studies.

  • Family Resource Hub Opens to Support SSD Families

    January 20, 2022 - The Family and Community Outreach team has fulfilled a longstanding need at SSD-- opening a Family Resource Hub for students, staff, and families. The space is located at North Tech High School and provides the SSD community with computer, phone, and internet access, as well as a food pantry.

  • SLU Offers Maintenance Career Opportunities to Tech Students

    January 18, 2022 - North Tech High School construction students attended a presentation in early January about maintenance career opportunities at St. Louis University. Representatives from the school informed students about a dozen specialized positions in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance.

    January 18, 2022 - On Monday, Jan. 17, SSD celebrates the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He devoted his life to realizing the dream of equality, peace, and dignity for all people. In SSD, our first core value is equity for a very important reason. We strive to ensure diversity and inclusion are valued in our schools, with our students, teachers, staff, and partners. Our students and staff are best served in environments where they feel safe and respected.

  • Showing Appreciation for Law Enforcement Officers at SSD

    January 10, 2022 - Over 45 police officers provide security at SSD schools. Their presence is necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff and take action during unprecedented events. In recognition of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Jan. 9, thank you to all the officers who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our schools safe.

  • Students Learn About Employment Opportunities at World Wide Technology

    December 16, 2021 - Cisco Networking Academy is one of the most vigorous programs offered at North and South Tech High Schools. Students learn how to design, install, and troubleshoot complex computer networks using a college level curriculum and can earn up to 25 college credits, making it an honors level course.

  • 5 SSD Teachers Recognized by Emerson

    December 14, 2021 - Lifting up teachers in the St. Louis region for their amazing work in the classroom is an annual endeavor of the Emerson Corporation. This year, five SSD teachers were among those selected to receive the company’s Excellence in Education Award.

  • North Tech Dedicates Day to Health and Wellness

    December 10, 2021 - On Dec. 10, North Tech High School dedicated an entire day to self-care, educating students and staff about mental and physical health and resources in the local area. Throughout the day, groups of students rotated to different sessions that incorporated presentations and activities focused on healthy eating habits, online safety, relationships, physical health, substance abuse, and law enforcement.

  • Students Create Winter Food Kits for Children in Need

    December 9, 2021 - The holiday season is often a time when people go the extra mile to give back and help those in need, and that is no different for students and staff at SSD. In December, Vocational Skills Program (VSP) students at Central Office and North Tech packed a total of 127 winter food kits for SSD students facing food insecurity.

  • Filing Opens Dec. 7 for Two Seats on SSD Board of Education

    November 1, 2021 - Candidate filing for two open seats of the SSD Board of Education opens at 8 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, and continues until 5 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. The terms of current Board members Ms. Katie Pottroff, Subdistrict 3, and Scott Moeller, Subdistrict 4 expire in March 2022.

  • SSD Wins 2021 Business Health Culture Award

    November 30, 2021 - Accessible online health resources and adherence to CDC guidelines were instrumental in garnering SSD the 2021 Business Health Culture Award from the St. Louis Area Business Health Coalition (BHC).
