• Course Description

    Using the same advanced equipment as industry professionals, students test and research drug treatments and interactions. Students also learn the skills required for multiple careers in this pathway, including those needed in retail, hospital, and medical center pharmacies.

  • Prerequisites at the Time of Junior Year Enrollment

    Minimum of 7 core credits (1.5 must be English, 1 must be Science); on track to graduate.

    Students in this program learn through the use of a variety of industry grade tools and equipment and texts. Their real world labs also require uniforms and personal protective equipment.

    Students learn the entry level skills necessary to prepare for post-secondary education and the highly competitive world of work. Traditionally, successful students have mastered the processing and/or physical skills listed below prior to enrollment.

    Core Essential Skills

    • Understand and use basic math computations and algebra; including percentages, fractions, decimals, and standard units of measurement

    • Have a basic knowledge of biology; student will take Anatomy and Physiology with this program

    • Attention to detail and precision

    • Enjoy helping others; service oriented; desire to serve community

    • Understand and relay medical terminology; both verbally and in writing

    • Take the initiative; perform tasks without having to be told; complete tasks in a timely manner and in proper sequence

    • Use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to process information

    • Make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands

    • Ability to stand while working for long periods of time
