Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Facilitators
-
The SSD Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Team enhances positive student outcomes through equitable support to committed districts and schools in the continuous development and alignment of a multi-tiered framework that integrates behavior, social emotional, and academic domains. Successful implementation of a tiered system framework has been shown to result in:
- A reduction in special education referrals,
- A reduction in out-of-school suspensions and disciplinary referrals,
- Growth in student academic achievement,
- Improved school climate.
In the fall of 2020, SSD's Department of Evaluation & Research conducted a program evaluation of SSD's PBIS/MTSS consultation model. The focus of the review was to determine the most effective service delivery structure for school settings, while also considering intersections with complementary approaches (i.e., trauma-informed and restorative practices) and disciplines (i.e., ABA, SEB, AU). One of the recommendations resulting from the evaluation was the need to concentrate the MTSS Team's work at the District-level, with dedicated support for a few partner districts based on data.
