Carla Davis
-
Carla Davis has overcome personal tragedy and life challenges and taken control of her destiny.
Carla, a senior at Mehlville High School in the Mehlville School District, also attends SSD’s South Technical High School for the Cosmetology Program. According to cosmetology instructor, Ashli Lograsso, Carla is a dedicated student who has made up her mind to succeed.
“Carla applied for the cosmetology program, which is highly selective and rigorous,” said Lograsso, who nominated Carla for the Rosemary Zander award. “It is amazing to see how much she has progressed despite family and other challenges.”
Carla is a member of SkillsUSA, participates in dance at the YMCA, and is an active member of Junior Achievement where she volunteered to teach two elementary social skills programs for first- and second-graders.
Additionally, she earned a “Most Improved Award” for math at Mehlville High School and participated in the Adopt-a-Family program, which provided holiday presents for families in need. She is active in her faith and works part-time at McDonald’s.
