“I am Somebody” Project Connects Students with History
Feb. 26, 2021 – At Ackerman, Black History Month is not just a stand-alone celebration. Instead, the staff and administrators have coordinated many projects and themes throughout February and the semester to go hand-in-hand with Black History Month.

Feb. 25, 2021 - The SSD Board of Education approved Lisa Leonard-Sneed as the principal of SSD’s Ackerman School at the Board meeting on Tuesday, thus removing the interim title she has held for the past year.

Celebrating SSD Seniors
April 1, 2021 - To celebrate the extraordinary work of seniors, Special School District is seeking high-resolution photos of seniors engaging in activities related to school, senior photos, or wearing school spirit wear. The photos will be shared through District communication channels (including, but not limited to social media and District/school website). Additionally, the photos will be used to create a gallery that will be shared to celebrate the Class of 2021. Submissions are open to special education, career and technical, and partner district schools.

Two SSD Teachers in Affton Named School Teacher of the Year
March 22, 2021 – Affton School District has recognized two SSD teachers with Teacher of the Year honors. Nicole Aronoff received the honor at Gotsch Intermediate School and Kathleen Hollenberg received the award at Rogers Middle School.
