Film screening, discussion scheduled for “Including Samuel”

SSD, Missouri TASH and the Ethical Society of St. Louis will co-sponsor a free screening of the documentary film “Including Samuel” on Feb. 8. A discussion will follow the film.

The event is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Road, St. Louis, Mo., 63117.

Before his son Samuel was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, photojournalist Dan Habib rarely thought about the inclusion of people with disabilities. Now he thinks about inclusion every day. Shot and produced over four years, Habib’s award-winning documentary film, “Including Samuel,” chronicles the Habib family’s efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives, a journey that transforms each of them.

The post-film discussion will be led by Missouri TASH, a member chapter of the international TASH organization. As a leader in disability advocacy for more than 35 years, the mission of TASH is to promote the full inclusion and participation of children and adults with significant disabilities in every aspect of their community, and to eliminate the social injustices that diminish human rights.
