Neuwoehner Named National
School of Character Finalist

Neuwoehner character education projectThe Character Education Partnership has named SSD's Neuwoehner High School a National School of Character (NSOC) finalist for excellence in character education.

The 50 finalists for the national award will undergo an intensive screening process that includes site visits, conference calls, and analysis of the impact of their character-related efforts on academics, student behavior, and school culture as part of the consideration to be named a National School of Character. The 2014 National Schools of Character will be announced in mid May.

Earlier this year, Neuwoehner was recognized as a State School of Character (SSOC).

Some of the projects that contributed to the high honor of being named a State School of Character include community service projects in each classroom, character words of the month, and bullying prevention activities. Neuwoehner will hold the State School of Character honor for three years.

As an SSOC, Neuwoehner will serve as a model within the state of Missouri. School staff will share best practices and develop state-level mentoring networks by hosting visitors at their school and making presentations at workshops and conferences.
