Family Academy is a biannual event designed to support, uplift, and connect families through engaging learning opportunities, community resources, and meaningful conversations. Held twice a year, Family Academy provides a welcoming space where families can explore ways to support their students' success at every stage of learning.
What to Expect
Each Family Academy features a mix of 30-minute learning sessions, community connections, and opportunities to learn alongside other families. During Family Academy, families can:
- Choose from 2 interactive learning sessions:
- Charting the LifeCourse and the IEP Process
- Understanding supports at SSD
- Building social-emotional learning at home and in school
- Visit with SSD experts in the areas of:
- Autism
- Transition
- Special Education Process
- Literacy (reading support)
- Numeracy
- And more!
- Chat with community vendors sharing helpful resources
- Explore family-to-family networking
- Enjoy music, light refreshments, and a welcoming atmosphere
Flexible Participation
Families are welcome to attend one or both sessions. Vendor booths, networking opportunities, and refreshments will be available throughout the entire event.
