Salutes Awards 2023
During our annual Salutes Awards, SSD proudly celebrates our fantastic staff, leadership, and community partners. These awards honor the teachers, paraprofessionals, District staff, leadership, and community members who support us in realizing our mission. Salutes awards are given based on staff nominations and judging panels comprised of previous winners and administrative staff districtwide.
Our 10 Key to the Classroom winners were selected from multiple nominations, each showing our teachers' tremendous impact on their students, families, and our community. Our Teacher of the Year will be chosen from this group - watch for the announcement in mid-April!
The number of nominations for Building Block awards doubled this year! The heartfelt submissions prove not only how valuable our paraprofessionals are to students but to staff as well. The impressions they make become the foundation on which student success is built, and we couldn't nurture potential without their support.
Our 10 Lasting Impression winners recognize the staff at SSD who are known for their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond for students and colleagues. This year's nominees included drivers, interpreters, SLPs, behavior specialists, cafeteria workers, school psychologists, administrators, nurses, and administrative assistants.
We will also celebrate Special Ambassadors, our community partners who provide extraordinary service to SSD. Success relies heavily on the many community organizations, businesses, and industries that lift us up with their support.
Finally, Salutes added a new award category this year, the Distinguished Leadership awards. We will honor three individuals - one SSD administrator working in an SSD building, one SSD administrator working in a partner district, and one non-SSD administrator from a partner district.
We will announce winners on social media and our website beginning Feb. 23, 2023, and honor them at the annual Salutes Awards & Retirement Banquet on April 27, 2023. Ticket information and invitations will be sent honorees in late March.
