Board Filing for Subdistrict 4

The SSD Board of Education has announced an opportunity to serve students, staff, and the community via an open seat. Candidate filing for Subdistrict 4—which represents the Ferguson-Florissant, Pattonville, and Riverview Gardens school districts—begins at 8 AM on March 12, 2025, and runs until 4 PM on April 4, 2025.

SSD Board members are typically elected by the SSD Governing Council to serve three-year terms. However, at the March 3, 2025 election meeting, the Governing Council announced that no candidates had filed to run for the Subdistrict 4 vacancy. Per Board Policy BBE and Regulation BBE-R, the Board of Education will appoint a qualified candidate to serve an eleven-month term beginning in May 2025. The seat will then reopen for filing in December 2025, with an election for the remaining two years of the term in March 2026.

Filing Process

Applications will be distributed at the SSD Central Office located at 12110 Clayton Road in Town and Country between 8 AM and 4 PM, starting on March 12, 2025, and ending on April 4, 2025, at 4 PM.

Under Governing Council regulations, information packets and applications must be picked up and returned by the candidate to SSD’s Central Office, which is located at 12110 Clayton Road in Town & Country. Contact the SSD Superintendent's Office at 314.989.7492 for packet availability or pick up prior to filing opening. Packets and forms cannot be mailed. Those returning completed applications must show proof of identification. Filing will not occur on days when the District’s offices are closed due to inclement weather or in the event of a district closure.

The Board of Education may choose to interview selected candidates and will vote to fill the vacancy during its open meeting on April 22, 2025.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the open Board seats, applicants must: be a citizen of the United States; have resided in Missouri for at least one year; be at least 24 years old; be a registered voter of the District, and be a resident of the sub-district in which the application is filed; not delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, or real estate property taxes on the place of residence; never pleaded guilty or nolo contendere, nor been convicted of a felony; is not registered or required to be registered as a sex offender, and has filed all required campaign disclosure reports for any previous elections.

With the passage of Proposition S in 1998, SSD Board of Education members are elected by the District’s Governing Council. The Governing Council is composed of one Board of Education member from each of the 22 partner school districts in St. Louis County.
