Students Show-Off Moves at Neuwoehner Talent Show
March 14, 2024 - Dozens of students at Neuwoehner School participated in the annual Spotlight Talent Show. Acts included piano performances and opera singing, dancing, basketball spinning, animation, and much more.

Neuwoehner High School Named 2024 State School of Character
February 23, 2024 - For the third time, Neuwoehner High School has been named a State School of Character by Character.org. Neuwoehner is one of 15 schools recognized in Missouri and 87 recognized in the nation.

Arts in the Classroom Brought to Neuwoehner
February 20, 2024 - The Black Repperformed at Neuwoehner School thanks to the Arts in the Classroom initiative led by the Special Education Foundation (SEF).

Students Awarded Character Captured Awards
January 12, 2024 - Ten students at Neuwoehner High School were recognized during a school-wide assembly for demonstrating creativity, encouragement, gratefulness, flexibility, compassion, and connections. These were the six main areas of focus for students during the first semester of the 2023-24 school year.

Family-School Relationships Survey Now Open
Jan. 9, 2024 - The strength of any school district lies in its relationships with families. The SSD Family-School Relationship Survey will be administered Jan. 8-26, 2024. The survey asks families how well the District shares information and involves them in their students' learning.

Special School District Announces New Superintendent
Dec. 18, 2023 - The Special School District of St. Louis County Board of Education is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Maclin as the District’s next superintendent of schools, effective Jan. 1, 2024. Maclin was approved by a unanimous vote to be SSD’s 20th superintendent and the first person of color to serve as superintendent in the District’s 66-year history. He has been serving as acting superintendent since October.

SSD Teachers Recognized by Emerson
Nov. 29, 2023 - The Emerson Corporations’s Excellence in Education Award program recognizes educators in the St. Louis metropolitan area. This year, six SSD teachers were selected to receive Emerson's recognition. Each teacher each received an engraved crystal apple and were praised for their professional achievements and commitment to education.

SEF Funds SSD School Projects
November 27, 2023 - The Special Education Foundation (SEF) Women’s Leaders provided over $11,000 in funding to support SSD schools, including the Juvenile Detention Center and Bridges Program.

Winter Health Guidance 2023-24
Nov. 20, 2023 - As we say goodbye to the summer heat, families are preparing for cooler weather, holiday celebrations, and the need to take preventative measures against illness. Sickness is on the rise throughout St. Louis County and contagious respiratory viruses (like flu, COVID-19, and RSV) can spread easily. SSD schools are experiencing an increasingly high rate of illness in our student and staff population. All three of these illnesses are expected to surge during the fall and winter seasons.

Candidate Filing Opens Dec. 5, 2023 for Two Seats on the SSD Board of Education
Nov. 17, 2023 - Candidate filing for two open seats on the Special School District Board of Education opens at 8 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, and continues until 5 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023. The terms of current Vice President Dr. Meredith Byers, Subdistrict 5 and Director Ms. Tiffany Hudson, Subdistrict 6, expire in March 2024.

Neuwoehner Community Competes in Kickball Game
October 18, 2023 - Students and staff at Neuwoehner School engaged in friendly competition as they challenged each other in a kickball game. At the end of every quarter, the principal and assistant principal host an activity for the entire school as a celebration of all the efforts students have poured into their education during the year.

SSD Student Surveys Administered Sept. 8 - Oct. 9, 2023
Aug. 31, 2023 - SSD values the academic and personal well-being of our students and prioritizes making data-informed decisions to support their success. In collaboration with Panorama Education, SSD students in grades 3-12 are invited to share their voices through two surveys, a climate survey and a social-emotional learning (SEL) survey.

Aug. 16, 2023 - The start of a new school year can bring both excitement and apprehension for students, especially after the challenges posed by the previous year. It's not uncommon for students to experience back-to-school anxiety as they face new classrooms, teachers, and classmates. As a family member, your support and guidance play a crucial role in helping your student manage these feelings and start the year positively.

I hope that you and your family are returning from summer break refreshed, re-energized, and refocused. As we prepare to embark on a new school year, we are excited to welcome both familiar faces and new members to our school community.
