Summit Academy

The focus of Summit Academy is to give students the skills they need to successfully transition back to their home school and/or life after graduation.

At Summit Academy, we offer a range of educational programs designed to meet the diverse needs of middle and high school student on a short-term or long-term basis.

When a student enters our program, time is dedicated to gathering and reviewing records, obtaining baseline reading and math data, and providing a space for student to learn the expectations of the Summit Academy school program. Once the student has completed their reception, they are placed in courses according to their individual needs. The administration team determine placement after reviewing the student's current records.

Mission

At Summit Academy, our mission is to provide high-quality education and supportive services to juveniles, helping them to overcome challenges, build confidence, and unlock their full potential through a holistic approach. We are dedicated to creating safe and inclusive learning environments that foster hope, resilience, and a sense of purpose for each individual to be empowered.

Vision

Our vision at Summit Academy is to provide a trauma-based, restorative, and inclusive environment where building relationships and partnerships inspire our students to engage in various research-based curricular programs to meet their full potential, while continuously analyzing our programs for improvement and growth.

Summit Academy provides high school course rotation, credit recovery, high school equivalency preparation, and middle school coursework. All coursework within our program is aligned with Special School District's Board of Education-approved curriculum.

Students receive services from Summit Academy when they are detained at the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center. Upon their release, they return to their previous school. Records of their work at Summit can be requested once they have enrolled in their previous/new school.

Special School District staff work in collaboration with the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center to provide students with the education they need, ensuring they receive the physical, emotional, and social well-being care they deserve while awaiting the court process.
