Mario Dreon

Mario Dreon demonstrates courage and optimism as he continues to achieve great things as a senior who receives services from SSD at Marquette High School in the Rockwood School District.

According to SSD teacher Amy Ahearn, who nominated Mario for the Rosemary Zander Award, Mario is an exemplary individual who rises to the occasion during challenging situations.

“Mario is optimistic and courageous,” said Ahearn. “He pushes himself to perform his best and move into more challenging classes.”

In addition to some medical issues from birth, Mario has experienced academic struggles, which began in early childhood and continued throughout his education in high school.

“Mario’s work ethic shines through in everything he does, and I know that kids take notice,” said Ahearn. “He not only works hard for his grades, but he also motivates his peers to do the same. The students respect him and are truly influenced by his actions in class.”
