Carson Sears

Carson Sears shows determination and demonstrates commitment toward his academics and athletics. As an eighth-grader who receives services from SSD at Valley Park Middle School, Carson has not only met, but also surpassed his IEP goals.

“Carson advocates for himself in the classroom and is committed to getting his assignments done accurately and on time,” said SSD teacher Kerry Bonastia, who nominated Carson for the Rosemary Zander Award.

In addition to academic success including being a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Carson excels in extracurricular activities including the track club. He was the fastest 13 year old at the St. Louis Regionals in the 200-meter dash and went on to compete in the Junior Olympics in Iowa.

“Carson works hard and has made great strides,” said Bonastia. “And he often finishes his work early, so that he can help other students in the class.”
