“Crumpled Classics” Performed at Northview
March 14. 2022 - Audience members got a taste of romance, adventure, comedy, and suspense in Northview High School’s production of the play “Crumpled Classics.” This story gives a modern spin to famous classic literature stories, such as “Romeo and Juliet,” “Frankenstein”, “King Arthur”, “Sherlock Holmes”, and “Phantom of the Opera”.

SSD to Host Business Diversity Workshop
Feb. 27, 2023 - Special School District is proud to host a free Business Diversity Workshop on March 11, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 12 PM, at Northview High School. Local businesses are invited to attend the workshop to learn more about how to become certified MBE, WBE, DBE, and SDVE business enterprises, tips and tricks for completing RFPs, and guidance on how to do business with school districts.

Feb. 24, 2023 - Track and field, basketball, tennis, football, boxing, and the list goes on - students at Northview High School celebrated black athletes of all backgrounds during the schools annual Black History Month celebration.

UNO Bowl Creates Friendly Competition Among Students
Feb. 14, 2023 - Nearly 80 students at Northview High School put on their game faces to compete in the second annual UNO Bowl. Coordinated by coaches Mike Laspe and Anthony Forneris, the game is hosted around the same time as the NFL superbowl.

Northview Students Honored at Character Award Assembly
February 1, 2023 - During a school wide assembly held at Northview High School, 12 students were presented with Student of Character certificates by Mark Sharp, assistant principal. Students are selected and recognized each quarter for a character award by demonstrating the school's expectations of best effort, responsibility, and respect.

SSD has been providing career and technical education to students in St. Louis County for over 50 years, offering new programs, outstanding partnerships, and relevant experiences to our region's high school students. Summer Programming
Feb. 1, 2023 - Registration for 2023 summer programming is now open! All students who attend Ackerman, Litzsinger, Neuwoehner, Northview, and Southview schools are eligible to participate in summer programming, which will operate from June 5-29, 2023. The deadline for registration is March 31, 2023.

SSD Family-School Relationships Survey
Jan. 13, 2023 - The strength of any school district lies in its relationships with families. In Special School District, District and building leaders, along with school staff are committed to fostering those relationships to create a school culture where students come first. To do that successfully, family input is necessary. Families are invited to complete the SSD Family-School Relationships Survey, which will be available from Jan. 17 through Feb. 10, 2023.

Students and Staff Celebrate Thanksgiving
Nov. 21, 2022 - Ackerman School and Northview High School each held a Thanksgiving feast for students and staff. Students were served everything from fried chicken to green beans, mashed potatoes, turkey, ham, and desserts like pumpkin pie and fried apples. The annual event is a time for the school communities to express gratitude and spend time together.

Family Engagement Month recognizes the vital role that school and families play throughout their student’s education journey and as their student’s first educator. 2023-24 Unified Calendar Update
October 12, 2022 - During last night’s meeting, SSD’s Board of Education reviewed updates to the 2023-24 calendar. The updates will align our SSD calendar with those of our partner districts. The Board will vote to approve the changes for the 2023-24 calendar at the next Board Business meeting on Nov. 1.

Fall 2022 Construction Update
Sept. 6, 2022 - Significant upgrades have been made across the District to buildings, facilities, and recreational spaces for the 2022-23 school year. Several projects are in their final stages as construction, replacements, and repairs progress.

Northview Students Learn School Expectations
August 25, 2022 - Respect, responsibility, and best effort. That is what teachers and staff at Northview High School wanted students to learn as they embarked on a two-day Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Boot Camp. For one hour, students visited different classrooms and spaces throughout the school and learned about expectations.

School Meals for 2022-23
August 12, 2022 - Over the last two years, SSD and school districts across the country were able to provide free meals to students due to the USDA waivers associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, those waivers expired at the end of the 2021-22 school year. This means SSD will be returning to a paid meal service under USDA’s National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Meals will be charged according to a student’s free, reduced, or paid meal eligibility status during the 2022-23 school year.

2022-23 COVID-19 Safe Return to In-Person Learning Plan - Updated Masking and Mitigation Measures
July 27, 2022 - With the increased availability of personal protective equipment (PPE), access to vaccinations and boosters for all students and staff, the removal of St. Louis County’s mask mandate, and the recent court ruling regarding health mandates and quarantines in Missouri schools, we are updating our health and safety practices.
