The terms of current Board members Ms. Katie Pottroff, Subdistrict 3, and Scott Moeller, Subdistrict 4 expire in March 2022.

  • Students Learn Artful Gardening at Neuwoehner

    November 30, 2021 - Neuwoehner High School art teacher Deborah Rudolf wants all her students to become creative thinkers and makers of art. If gardening helps them get there, that’s a bonus. “Even if they don’t like art, I want them to know that art can be calming, art can be expressive,” said Rudolf.

  • Ackerman Music Teacher Awarded $2,000 Grant from NEA Foundation

    November 30, 2021 - Ackerman Music Teacher Stephanie Jones has been awarded a $2,000 grant from The NEA Foundation. The NEA Foundation is a public charity founded by educators to improve public education for all students. Since 2013, they have awarded $2.2 million in grants, supporting 39,000 educators and 627,000 students in 47 states.

  • Serving Coffee Provides Students With Essential Skills

    November 29, 2021 - Every morning, Monday through Friday at 8 AM, five students in Michelle Cantino’s Learning Community class prepare and serve coffee, hot chocolate, and tea for teachers and staff at Neuwoehner High School. The goal of the class is to prepare students to meet their employment, education, and independent living outcomes, and serving hot beverages helps the students do just that.

  • Resource Officer and Students Form Tradition of Playing Chess at Lunch

    Most students use lunchtime as an opportunity to relax their minds and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the school day. But for some students at North Tech, it’s the time when they put their game faces on and come up with strategies to be named the winning champion in a game of chess. Since the beginning of the school year, School Resource Office Neil French has been playing chess with North Tech students during their lunch period.

  • Boeing Visits North and South Tech High Schools

    November 15, 2021 - Dozens of North and South Tech students spent an afternoon interacting with Boeing industry professionals, learning what it’s like to work as skilled assembly and sheet metal mechanics. The instructors gave an introductory demonstration on how to build and maintain the structure of an aircraft, with an emphasis on accuracy and precision.

  • SSD Staff and Students Honor Those Who Served in the Armed Forces

    November 12, 2021 - November 11 is a day dedicated to honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. As a show of appreciation and gratitude, students and staff at North Tech and Neuwoehner High Schools spent the day giving back by serving veteran staff members a free lunch and displaying thank you messages throughout the building.

  • Parent of SSD Employee Donates Handmade Hats and Scarves to SSD Critical Needs Coat Drive

    November 11, 2021 - The winter months can be a joyful time for many, welcoming family and feeling the magic of the holiday season. But for some, winter can mean chilly nights and cold days. To help students stay warm during the winter months, SSD coordinated the Critical Need Coat Drive to collect new coats, hats, scarves, and gloves.

    November 10, 2021 - The SSD Board of Education recently approved the audit report on the District’s financial statements for the year ending June 30, 2021. Schowalter & Jabouri, PC, certified public accountants, presented SSD’s audit report at the Nov. 9 Board meeting. ​SSD received an unmodified opinion on its audited financial statements.

  • Northview High School Awarded Grant for Arts Education

    October 28, 2021 - Northview High School has been awarded a grant of over $2,000 for their Creative Service Learning project. The Arts and Education Fund for Teachers, spearheaded by the Arts and Education Council, is given to schools across the region that support classroom-based art projects. Northview is one of 18 area schools awarded the grant.
