August 5, 2021 - SSD is proud to announce that we have received a Making a Difference Gold level Aetna Workplace Well-being Award. Our SSD Wellness team has a strong commitment to supporting and improving the physical and mental health of our employees. This award is the culmination of their dedicated work and our employees’ desire to make their well-being a priority.
Brenda Dooley-Artis, Manager of Insurance Benefits and Coordinator of SSD Wellness, credits many for this recognition. “We have 93 Wellness Champions throughout SSD, in both our own schools and in our partner districts, they make this happen,” she said. She added that our partners, Aetna, Personal Assistance Services (PAS), and Marsh & McLennan Agency, are key to making our programs possible.
Our award application and well-being program were honored based partially upon our commitment to make wellness resources available and adaptable during various stages of the pandemic. “We increased our digital resources and presence,” she said, “adding WellBeats for online exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness classes as well as utilizing Telehealth for both Aetna and Personal Assistant Services (PAS) online sessions, which helped our employees find support for wellness practices when we couldn’t be at work and needed to socially distance.” In Spring of 2020, SSD Wellness added Wondr, an online nutritional coaching program, and recently established well-being rooms at both Ackerman and Litzinger and added LC500 Health Kiosks at Central Office, the Learning Center, Northview, and South Tech High School.
“I’m proud of SSD’s emphasis on the well-being of our employees and of our Wellness team’s recognition,” said Amy Schecter, SSD’s Chief Human Resources Officer. Employees seeking more information about SSD Wellness should visit here on SSD Life.
