SSD Welcomes New Administrators for 2022-23
July 1, 2022 - Beginning July 1, 2022, several new administrators have joined SSD or moved into new roles with the District.
Philip Boyd, Chief People and Culture Officer
Boyd will be joining SSD as the new Chief People and Culture Officer. In this role, he will lead SSD’s Human Resources department, creating and shaping an equitable and inclusive culture that honors diversity, excellence, and innovation by supporting talent, engagement, and the employee work experience. Boyd is joining SSD from the Ferguson-Florissant School District, where he has served as the assistant superintendent of human resources since 2016. Read more about Boyd.
Dr. Darryl Diggs, Assistant Director of Equity - Teaching and Learning
Diggs was approved as the new assistant director of equity - teaching and learning at the May 24, 2022 Board meeting. Diggs previously worked in St. Charles City School District, as a principal at Hardin Middle School. In this new role, Diggs will support the District initiatives to embrace and actualize the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Read more about Dr. Diggs.
Dr. Tonnette Harris, Assistant Director of Equity - Human Resources
Harris was approved at the June 14, 2022 Board of Education meeting. As the assistant director of equity - human resources, she will be responsible for monitoring and facilitating diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in SSD’s recruiting, hiring, and retention initiatives. This is a new position within SSD. Harris previously served as an ADA and Title VI Coordinator for the Iowa Department of Transportation, where she was responsible for the management, administration, and implementation of internal and external civil rights programs. Shinita Jones, Partner District Director at Jennings School District
Jones was named the new Jennings School District partner district director at the May 24 Board meeting. Jones has been part of SSD since July 2020 and will be replacing Dr. Tonya Nalls who retired at the end of the 2021-22 school year. Read more about Jones.
Chaketa Mack-Riddle, Chief of Partner Districts
Mack-Riddle was named the new chief of partner districts at the May 24 Board meeting, having previously served the District as the executive director of partner districts. Mack-Riddle took her first role with SSD in 1997 as a paraprofessional in Riverview Gardens School District. Read more about Mack-Riddle.
Dr. Michael Maclin, Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA)
Maclin was named the new executive director of DEIA, after filling the role of director of equity since July 2020. Maclin established SSD’s Equity Framework that is currently guiding the District’s equity practices. Before coming to SSD, he filled teaching and administrative roles at Parkway, University City, and Maplewood-Richmond Heights. Read more about Dr. Maclin.
Dr. Tami Yates, Executive Director of Partner Districts
Yates was named the executive director of partner district at the June 14, 2022 Board of Education meeting. She previously served SSD as the assistant director of partner districts since October 2020. Yates began teaching special education in 1998 and has since held such titles as special education administrator, executive director of special services, and district of special education.
