New Parent Education & Diversity Awareness Liaison Announced
January 18, 2022 - Kim Redden has been announced as the new Parent Education & Diversity Awareness (PEDA) Liaison.
Redden previously worked within the Normandy School District, as a family engagement liaison. In this position, she provided support to families and the school community by conducting home visits, and providing resources and training. Prior to her time at Normandy, Redden spent four years as a paraprofessional at Ackerman School. Redden has also held positions in Ferguson-Florissant School District as a Parent Educator and as a Family Childcare Director at a learning center. She holds a master's in education and a bachelor's in child development.
“I've been an educator for over 20 years, and I loved it!” said Redden. “It allows me to keep learning and growing in knowledge. I'm excited to return to SSD and work as a PEDA Liaison. My goal is to support, strategize, build relationships, and serve our families by offering resources.”
PEDA utilizes a number of strategies and services to reach and support all families and stakeholders within SSD. These supports include consultation, resource and referral, problem-solving, training/workshops, Parent Advisory Council (PAC) development, and support and leadership development. PEDA champions meaningful inclusion, equity, family engagement, and collaborative relationships, which supports success and ensures students are living their best self-determined lives.
