Dooley-Artis Named Director of Benefits and Risk Management
April 27, 2022 - At the April 26, 2022 Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed Brenda Dooley-Artis as the new Director of Benefits and Risk Management effective July 1, 2022. Dooley-Artis previously served in the role of Insurance and Benefits Manager.
Dooley-Artis has been a member of SSD’s staff since 2015, when she joined in a human resource information system (HRIS) analyst role. Additionally, she was responsible for benefit-related HRIS tasks, including plan/rate information, identifying and rectifying issues, analyzing errors/discrepancies, and conducting testing associated with upgrades.
In Sept. 2020, Dooley-Artis moved into the insurance and benefits manager position. She was responsible for the administration and purchasing of all District insurance and benefits programs, including health and wellness (H&W) plans, property and casualty plans, workers’ compensation, and wellness. Dooley-Artis was responsible for the rollout of a districtwide online benefits self-service platform, allowing for more efficient, accurate, and timely enrollment in H&W plans. She leads the District’s Wellness Committee, which supports employees’ emotional, mental, physical, and fiscal well-being. Under her leadership, SSD’s Insurance and Benefits department has been awarded six health and well-being awards in the last two years.
“I am appreciative and enthusiastic for this opportunity to serve as SSD’s Director of Benefits and Risk Management,” said Dooley-Artis. “I look forward to continuing my work in offering comprehensive and competitive benefits plans that are valuable to SSD employees. By providing support and guidance, I also hope to help educate employees on their benefits plans, so that they become more knowledgeable consumers.”
