Ann Hawkey Will Serve as JDC Principal
Jan. 17, 2023 - During the January 10 Board of Education meeting, Ann Hawkey was approved for the role of principal of the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center. During her transition to her new role, Hawkey will work with the director of special education, SSD leadership, and partner district leadership in Hazelwood to ensure students and schools are supported until the special education coordinator position can be filled.

Hawkey has served the District as a special education coordinator in Hazelwood since 2019. She began her tenure with SSD in 2016, serving as a special education teacher and as an administrative intern in the Parkway district. Before joining SSD, Hawkey taught special education and served as a process coordinator for the Northwest School District from 2006-2016.
Hawkey holds a bachelor’s degree in exceptional child education and a master's and specialist's degree in elementary and secondary supervision and leadership. She has served as the Board Department Chair of the Best Buddies of Missouri program since 2018.
