Aug. 3, 2023 - During the July 23, Board of Education meeting, Michael Wilhite was approved as the assistant director of health services. Wilhite started with SSD on Aug. 1, 2023. The assistant director of health services is a new role and is responsible for the effective management of time and nursing talents across the organization. The position will work closely with the director of health services.

Wilhite came to SSD from the Pattonville School District, where he acted as a lead nurse. Within this role, he managed and directed all phases of the district’s health services program, procured and distributed medical supplies throughout the district, and collaborated with community agencies to establish and coordinate district-wide health programs.

Wilhite spent 12 years as a registered nurse with Kirkwood Early Childhood prior to becoming the lead nurse at Pattonville. As a registered nurse, he would provide first aid, daily medical care, medical surveillance, and emergency and lifesaving support for students and employees. His duties also required him to conduct health and wellness screenings, vision and hearing screenings, and maintenance of medical data and records for students and employees. He also served as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Health Center. Since 2009, Wilhite has also coached soccer at several St. Charles County institutions, including St Charles Football Club, Lutheran High School, Duchesne High School, and St. Dominic High School.

Wilhite is working towards a master’s of health administration at Texas Tech University and currently holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Maryville University and a Registered Nurse license. He is a certified instructor of First Aid, CPR, and AED through the American Red Cross.
