Students Show-Off Moves at Neuwoehner Talent Show

March 14, 2024 - Dozens of students at Neuwoehner School participated in the annual Spotlight Talent Show. Acts included piano performances and opera singing, dancing, basketball spinning, animation, and much more.

“The opportunity is open to all students in the building,” said Stephanie Holdmeyer, music teacher and producer of the show. “I help students gather everything they need for their act. This year, we had a wide variety of performances, which was very cool to watch.”

Sign-ups have been available since January. However, many students have known since last year that they wanted to share their talents with the school community. Sabrina McCammon, ninth-grade, danced to the song “Run the World” by Beyonce.

“I’m a new student here, so I thought this would be a good school activity to join,” said McCammon. “I created my own dance and choreographed most of it. I’ve been in competition dance for six years, so it’s a passion of mine.”

Holdmeyer hopes the experience teaches students that there are a lot of different ways they can celebrate their peers. She also hopes students recognize that the talents they choose to share can bring happiness to others.

“It’s a good day when we are able to share what we love with other people,” said Holdmeyer. “Our character word for the month of March is brave, and each student who shared a talent or introduced another student was a very good example of that trait.”

Special thanks goes to Dr. Brian Cupps, Denise Bell, Debbie Rudolg, Mikail Cangelosi, Rachel Edwards, and Laura Hammock, as well as classroom teams who helped support students.
