Lo Named DEIA Director, Teaching & Learning

June 13, 2024 - During the June 11, 2024, Board of Education meeting, Jeremy Lo was approved as the new director of equity - teaching and learning, effective July 1. 

“I am excited and eager to work with my fellow educators on the success of SSD’s Equity Framework,” said Lo. “It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to work with schools and offices to create safe environments for all students and educators to thrive.”

With his skill set of special education leadership, inclusive education advocacy, program development, multi-disciplinary collaboration, instructional coaching, and professional development facilitation, Lo will support SSD’s equity efforts as we continue to actualize the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Lo joins SSD from Kairos Academies, where he served as the director of student services. In that role, he supported at-risk and special populations, as well as federal programs. Prior to that, he worked in Portland Public Schools, supporting special education as an assistant director, program administrator, and teacher on special assignment. He has also worked as a teacher and leader in Trillium Schools, Teach Plus, Howard County Public Schools, North Broward Preparatory Schools, and Howard Gardner School for Discovery.

Lo has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in special education from the University of Scranton. He holds a post-master’s certificate/principals license from the University of Portland. He is also currently working on his doctorate in educational leadership.
