June 15, 2022 - During May 24, 2022 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Darryl Diggs was approved as the new Assistant Director of Equity - Teaching and Learning. The position is new and will go into effect on July 1, 2022. 

The Assistant Director of Equity - Teaching and Learning will support the District as we move forward with its initiative to embrace and actualize the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The position was created to support the District’s commitment to our equity work. 

Diggs currently acts as a principal at Hardin Middle School in St. Charles City School District. Within this role, he coordinated district-level supports for the school community and problem-solved the needs of students and staff using a holistic approach. 

Prior to that role, Diggs served as an assistant principal and middle school teacher in the Parkway School District. He led a Diversity Summit at Maryville University, which was an enrichment program for middle school African American students in Parkway, and Diversity in Action, which developed school programming designed to promote strong socio-emotional skills and academic support.

Diggs received an Albert Award from Parkway School District in 2012, which recognizes exceptional teachers within their first five years of teaching. The award is given to those who are honored for their energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and innovative practices. Diggs is also a self-published author and has participated in speaking engagements on workplace inclusion, diversity, and the importance of teachers of color.

Diggs holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University, a master’s in educational administration from Missouri Baptist University, and a bachelor’s in middle school education from University of Missouri - St. Louis.
