SSD’s Adult Education Division Receives Grants

May 10, 2021 – The Missouri Office of Workforce Development has awarded a total of $75,000 in grants to SSD’s Adult Education division as part of the Missouri Apprentice Ready Initiative.

Missouri Apprentice Ready, which launched in February 2021, is an initiative that invests U.S. Department of Labor funds toward the development of pre-apprenticeship opportunities. Pre-apprenticeship is a program or set of services designed to prepare individuals to enter and succeed in a registered apprenticeship program.

STL Training, part of SSD’s Adult Education division, will receive $25,000 to cover the cost of setting up and building the pre-apprenticeship program and another $50,000 to implement the program.

“This investment in pre-apprenticeship programs represents Missouri’s commitment to building a workforce that places individuals on a stable path to success while supporting the employers and businesses in our community,” said Dennis Mix, SSD’s director of adult education.

STL Training provides training solutions to students looking to enter the healthcare field or enhance their current skills to further their career.
