June 23, 2021 – SSD Board of Education members Dr. Yuval Asner, Dr. Meredith Byers, and Mr. Scott Moeller recently completed their Certified Board Member (CBM) Essential Training from the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA). The training provides Board members with the information, training, and support needed to best serve the District.

“Professional development is a vital part of education,” said Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Keenan “Well-trained and effective school board members help to positively affect student performance and education.”

MSBA’s Certified Board Member program is free for all new board members and is comprised of several training sessions which focus on information giving and skill development. Each training session is designed specifically for board members and addresses the topics from a policy leader’s perspective.

Missouri law requires all school board members to receive 18.5 hours of training within their first 12 months of service. MSBA’s CBM Essential Board Member Training fulfills this requirement and provides the foundation for becoming an effective board member.
