Happy New Year, Neuwoehner Students and Families!
We welcome 2023 with students returning to class Thursday, Jan. 5. As a reminder, our semester ends later in January. The first day of second semester is Tuesday, Jan. 17. Please anticipate receiving your student’s IEP progress reports and grades during the week of Jan. 17.
The start of a new calendar year and the start of a new semester are both good times to remind ourselves and our students of expectations for learning and personal responsibility. Over the next two weeks, staff will revisit our routines, school rules, and expectations with students. We appreciate your support in helping us provide a school that adheres to our core values which include: Treat all people with dignity and respect. All learn in a safe environment.
Character Captured
Our first semester all-school Character Captured Assembly takes place Thursday, Jan. 12. During the assembly we are excited to spotlight our first and second quarter Students of Character and to celebrate the work students and staff have done on their first semester service learning projects.
Family Event – Friday, Feb. 3
Please save the date for Friday, Feb. 3, from 4:30–6:30 PM. During this evening event, our related services providers (OT, speech & language pathologists) and specials teachers will be hosting workshops with ways to support your student’s progress at home and school. Additional information will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
Learning Community 4 Service Learning
Neuwoehner’s four learning communities each identified a service learning opportunity for first semester. Service learning combines our curricular standards with community service. Learning Community 4 students chose to do something to support the APA Adoption Center. They are collecting gently used t-shirts, jeans, socks, and towels that they will use to make dog toys to be donated to the APA. Please send your donations to school labeled “APA” and we will make sure they get to Learning Community 4.
Please spend a few minutes taking a look at the dates for January as there are several important dates, including no school on Jan. 13 or Jan. 16, to make note of.
Wishing you all a healthy and productive 2023!
